Hello!

My name is Laura, and I will be your guide throughout this site☺

I have had many false starts with online blogging pretty much since I was a teen and the Internet first came to the family home; from MySpace to Tumblr, YouTube to Twitter (RIP), I’ve tried to carve out my corner of the Web, but perhaps my inability to offer anything of real value prevented me from sticking with it.

Until now.

At the grand early-mid-age of 36, I feel I have a firmer grasp on my ability to share moments, convey musings and build memories – hence the tagline of this site. The title comes from my first and middle names, and I like the meaning that comes with the name ‘Dawn’ – new beginnings, fresh starts, moving forward. It is also used for my other site, Dawn of the Tapes (a play on ‘Planet of the Apes/Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ and the prominent mark movies have made on my life since being born during the age of VHS). I have also found that, as I head towards 40, I feel less daunted about airing my thoughts and overall have less fucks to give. So, here we are – I consider this website/blog to be an outlet for my thoughts and very much welcome (considerate) conversation on various subjects, and I hope it’ll encourage me to get out of the house more(!) to find things to share.

Currently, I reside in South Korea and have done since 2021. Whilst I will share some of the experiences I have, it isn’t my overarching mission to promote Korean-based content; it is just one aspect of my life – I have many more interests that I hope to share here, in particular movies, books, television shows, music, games, and general thoughts on life, because ‘life’ has been happening in amazing and terrible ways for me for a long time, and if my takeaways can help others (particularly those younger), then it will make things worth sharing.
