Cosy gamers, prepare yourselves: a new game is coming your way!

I’ve recently finished the main questline in a beta test of an upcoming cozy sim called Loftia. I first took interest in this game when it was looking for pledges on Kickstarter back in 2023, and I couldn’t resist backing it. There was an alpha test a few months ago that I didn’t get the chance to partake in, but I was very keen to do the beta test, even if I had to cram it into the last 48-hours of its two-week test (my bad!) and use my PC that is not exactly up to spec for the graphics(!). I was very pleased to get to the end and score the Betabara, though (pictured above)!
So, what is Loftia? Well, according to their Press Kit:
Loftia is a cozy, multiplayer world where you can build towards a brighter, more sustainable future. Connect with friends both old and new to farm, craft, explore, decorate and create a meaningful impact, together!
I really enjoyed this game, and in spite of it being in beta, it had a lot to offer for those who enjoy low-level quests, exploring, farming etc. The characters were wonderfully designed in that bubbly, cartoonish way and all are very unique. The message of sustainability is a really nice theme that is the backbone of the game but isn’t overbearingly dogmatic. It’s a really good start for the game and it’s clear how much time and effort the team have put into it!
I did struggle a little bit with the repetitive nature of gathering resources, but I think that was mainly because I was rushing to get the main quest done in time before the end of the beta. Under normal circumstances I would take my time/embark on side quests and collect resources as I go. To that end, I have no doubt I will take my time much more when Loftia enters early release, which should be in Autumn this year.
My usual go-to cosy games are Disney Dreamlight Valley, Palia and occasionally Animal Crossing, and Loftia will undoubtedly fit in well with these games. From what I’ve read, the creators of Loftia were/are big Stardew Valley fans, so again, if you’re into these kinds of games, this ought to be right up your street! It will eventually be available on multiple platforms (I believe), so get wishlisting on your preferred PC/console of choice!
